Mariam Amer, M.A.
Mariam Amer is a psychotherapist with an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the American University in Cairo (AUC) and a B.A. in Psychology and Film & New Media Studies from NYU Abu Dhabi. Her background in scientific inquiry and visual storytelling shapes her clinical approach, which focuses on narrative: how people construct, tell, and sometimes revise the stories they hold about themselves. Mariam believes in the power of connection and is committed to creating a safe, welcoming space for everyone, where individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered to grow. Her approach is rooted in person-centered and evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Interventions, which she aims to integrate to meet each individual's unique needs. She works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem challenges, relational difficulties, existential concerns, and other life struggles. Beyond clinical work, Mariam co-founded Tutoruu, an educational technology platform serving over 30,000 students across the MENA region, recognized by Forbes Middle East's 30 Under 30 for Social Impact in 2024. It is a reminder that her investment in people's growth extends well beyond the therapy room. Alongside her clinical work, she is a research assistant on the Islamic Trauma Healing Project, a qualitative study on culturally grounded support for refugees in Egypt.
