Mariam Alaa

Mariam completed her Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Keele University in the UK, after earning her BA in Psychology from the American University in Cairo (AUC). She is a registered member of the BACP, and the International and Egyptian Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy (EGYCEFT/ICEEFT).

Mariam works with individuals and couples and has experience working with clients aged 16 to 71 from diverse backgrounds in both Egypt and the UK. She supports clients through challenges such as anxiety, depression, identity exploration, childhood experiences, and relationship difficulties. She has a particular interest in supporting people who feel disconnected from themselves or others & supporting couples in understanding their emotional patterns and building more connected relationships.

Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Person-Centred Therapy, with training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), and she is currently working towards certification. She also draws on some techniques used in Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Mariam sees therapy as a collaborative process that supports clients to feel

empowered in their choices and in their own lives. She believes in being "a

human first and a therapist second," honouring the trust clients place in her

and valuing the courage it takes to be vulnerable in therapy. Book a session with Mariam Alaa:
