Lydia Wassef, M.A.

Lydia Wassef is a psychotherapist with an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the American University in Cairo (AUC). Her work is grounded in attachment theory alongside relational and existential approaches. At the heart of her practice is a deep attention to the therapeutic relationship and the lived experience of the present moment — a conviction that therapy is most effective when clients are met with authenticity, curiosity, and genuine respect for their inner knowledge. She works with adults navigating anger, loneliness, relationship difficulties, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, and existential concerns.

She is a research assistant at the Attachment Lab at AUC, contributing to research on parenting and attachment in Egypt. Her master's thesis explored how father–son attachment shapes men's experience and expression of anger in the Egyptian context. Her prior community work with refugees and unaccompanied minors continues to inform her sensitivity to the cultural and systemic dimensions of mental health.
