Donia Fawzy, M.A.
Donia earned her Master’s in Counseling Psychology and Psychotherapy degree from The American College of Greece- after she obtained her Bachelor degree in Psychology from the American University in Cairo.
Mental health issues have always been of huge curiosity and importance to her which drove her into the career of Psychotherapy and Psychology teaching where she can both learn and help. She is very delighted to pursue her passionate journey of raising mental-health awareness and guiding people to start looking within and finding who they really are as human-beings.
Donia is well-trained in various psychotherapy approaches and prefers to use an eclectic approach to therapy as she believes each human psyche needs its own customization of integrative approaches that would be tailored upon this exact client’s needs, case by case.
Main Approaches used: Cognitive-behavioral therapy, Person-centered therapy, Humanistic approach, Dialectical-behavioral therapy, Psychodynamic approach.
In her 5 years of experience, she worked with individuals going through grief/loss, family & relationship issues, transitional phases, depression & anxiety, clients with personality & mood disorders, clients who have been struggling to recover from traumatic experiences & abuse.
Also, clients who felt marginalized and those who couldn’t easily find their sense of belonging or purpose whether it’s at home, school, university, work or any social setting.
She has worked with clients from all around the world, with different cultural backgrounds & expectations, and has been certified as a therapist who works with diverse groups, which makes her culturally competent to be aware of the relationship between culture and mental health, while practicing cultural humility with all her clients.
