A man with curly dark hair and a beard sitting on a beige cushioned bench, smiling at the camera. He is wearing a navy blue button-up shirt, light blue jeans, and a black wristwatch. The background features a framed botanical print on a beige wall, a window with white framing, and some decorative pillows and plants.

David is a counseling psychologist who earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Wilfrid
Laurier University in Canada and his master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at the American
University in Cairo (AUC).

As part of his supervised clinical training, he has been practicing
psychotherapy at Serenity Psychology Center as well as the AUC’s Psychological Counseling
Services and Training Center.

His theoretical orientation is primarily client-centered, as he
believes in the inherent ability for all his clients to achieve their true potential if given the
appropriate conditions for growth.

However, he adopts an eclectic approach, integrating different
theories and interventions based on the individual client’s needs, such as cognitive and
behavioural therapy, dialectic behaviour therapy, internal family systems, polyvagal theory, and
emotion-focused therapy.

Throughout his supervised clinical training, David was exposed to different cultural
backgrounds, working with a variety of clients. He practices psychotherapy primarily in English
but is also able to work with Arabic speaking clients.

He has experience working with a variety
of concerns including sexual, physical, and emotional trauma; anxiety and depressive disorders;
grief; interpersonal issues; self-esteem issues; personality disorders; identity concerns and eating
disorders.

In addition to his clinical work, David has conducted various experiential workshops
on mental health and emotional well-being. He has also attended case conceptualizations and
clinical discussions at Rakhawy Training and Research center, developing his clinical and
theoretical skills.

He also worked as a teaching assistant for the Department of Psychology at
AUC. David believes in cultivating a safe, supportive, and trusting environment for his clients to
be able to express their true selves without fear of any type of judgement. His goal is to support
his clients in overcoming the challenges of their unique life experiences through a collaborative
process of change.
